TARSHI conducts trainings on helpline counselling skills and on
sexuality, sexual and reproductive health and rights tailor-made to suit
the needs of organisations working in the field. Five Basic Trainings on
Sexuality, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights have been conducted
since the year 2003, aimed at developing understanding and linkages
between sexuality, gender, health and rights. The focus is to encourage
participants to incorporate concepts of sexuality and rights in their
day-to-day work. The first Regional Training on Sexuality, Sexual and
Reproductive Health and Rights was organized in February 2008 with
participants from all over the South and Southeast Asia region. TARSHI
has also conducted a Training for Trainers based on Basics and Beyond, a
manual for trainers developed by TARSHI.
The South and Southeast Asia Resource Centre on Sexuality hosted by
TARSHI conducts the
Regional Institute on Sexuality Society and Culture
which is an annual eight day conceptual course that seeks to understand
the implications of the current debates on sexuality issues and its
links to culture and society in a South and Southeast Asian context.
Four Institutes have been conducted in India, Indonesia, Vietnam and
China respectively since 2004. The institute comprises of national and
international faculty who use a range of pedagogical techniques
including lectures, group work, films, reading assignments and exercises
for a diverse range of participants.
The Sexuality &
Rights Institute is an annual two-week long conceptual
course focusing on the interface between sexuality and rights and its
links with the related fields of gender and health. This institute is organised in collaboration with CREA. Seven Institutes have been
conducted since 2002.
