As always, Robot Hugs lovingly and insightfully examines the give-and-take between who we are and our larger cultural environment. What we study, read, watch, and witness shapes our ideas as well as lends us the vocabulary with which we are able to understand and express ourselves in a way that brings out who we truly are. Drawing from a seemingly objective lesson in reproductive anatomy and experience of sexuality, Robot Hugs gives us a glimpse into the doubts and confusions they grappled with while growing up, and unravels the tightly wound preconceptions in culture influenced by, and at the same time, influencing scientific and medical imagination.
