An Indian joint family shares spaces where lives and narratives overlap and privacy is stymied. Acts of intimacy, pleasure, and sexual exploration become difficult to pursue, and both privacy and sexual fulfillment become a much sought-after luxury. How, then, can a young newly-married couple navigate intimacy in such a space? How can they evade the scrutiny of not only their family members, but also society at large, and hope to ever share a private moment of closeness? The Embrace, a short film, sweetly shows how sometimes intimacy may unexpectedly be afforded in the anonymity of public space.
