“ILGA is a worldwide federation of 1,600member organisations from 150 countries campaigning for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex rights.” They have many resources on the status of LGBTI issues across the world - reports, maps, surveys and more.
Intersex Human Rights Australia
Intersex Human Rights Australia Ltd provides support, education and policy development for people with intersex variations and traits. The “Issues” section covers various issues including ageing, faith, education and many more in the context of intersex people. The “Multimedia” section provides various resources in multimedia form including videos, journals, reports and many more.
Intersex Society of North America
“The Intersex Society of North America (ISNA) is devoted to systemic change to end shame, secrecy, and unwanted genital surgeries for people born with an anatomy that someone decided is not standard for male or female.” ISNA is an important resource for clinicians, parents, and affected individuals who require basic information about intersex people and how to improve their health care and overall well-being. The ISNA website offers resources such as frequently asked questions, a library, history, videos, links online articles, to name a few.
Nazariya Queer Feminist Resource Group
Nazariya is a group of queer feminist-activists based in Delhi which works with a special focus on issues and concerns of Lesbian Bisexual Women and Trans* (LBT) people assigned female at birth. Nazariya also conducts on-demand trainings for institutes through which they help in addressing issues of marginalisation and inclusivity. Orinam, based in Chennai, India, is a collective of LGBTQIA+ people and allies which functions as a support, cultural and activist space through activities such as meet-ups, peer counselling, referrals, film festivals, advocacy, networking, sensitisation workshops and many more. The “Blog” section on the website contains news, personal stories, podcasts and fiction/poetry from a queer perspective.
Parents Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)
PFLAG is a US-based organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQIA+) people, their parents and families and allies. The site has resources like training manuals and FAQs, and an “Advocacy 101” page. “PFLAG Academy Online” provides diverse online learning sessions for members-only.
Queer Ink is a queer-owned media company based in Mumbai, India, and aims to change the popular narrative of LGBTHQIA+ India by curating, developing and promoting the work through print, cross screens and languages. The website allows storytellers, filmmakers and anyone who wishes to produce creative work on LGBTHQIA+ issues to sign up and submit their work.
Sahodari is based in Tamil Nadu, India, and works to establish both social and economic justice for transgender, intersex and gender non-confirming persons while working towards the elimination of oppression and exclusion based on caste, ethnicity, gender, class, religion, legal status, sexual orientation, age, and disability. Sahodari runs several projects and is also responsible for having created India’s first matrimonial site for transgender persons. The website provides “Latest News” regarding gender issues.
Sappho works for the rights and social justice of sexually marginalised women and transmen (female to male transpersons) and is based in Eastern India. The “Sexuality Resource Centre” section on the website provides information about the facilities provided by Sappho, including its helpline and counselling services. The Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN)
AVEN hosts “the world's largest asexual community”, serving as an informational resource for people who are asexual and questioning, their friends and families, academic researchers and the press. AVEN has FAQs for different audiences (asexual people, friends & family, etc) and “Asexual Perspectives”, a forum with contributions from asexual people. The Queer Muslim Project is a digital advocacy platform focused on creating visibility and awareness of LGBTQ+ Muslim issues in India and South Asia. The Queer Muslim Project emerged from a need for creating safe and inclusive community spaces for LGBTQ+ Muslims in India. These safe spaces are used to network, exchange experiences, and share information and resources.
Trikone is a non-profit organisation based in the United States that works with queer people of South Asian descent. Their “Resources” page provides links and phone numbers for queer organisations in many South Asian countries and those with large South Asian populations. Trikone also has two sub-groups for queer women and parents with queer children.
