CSE Curricula
TARSHI has been working with various audiences to highlight the importance of comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) for young people. There are several curricula that are in use throughout the country and we plan to list them here in the coming months. If you wish to share details of any curriculum that you may know of or have heard of, please contact us here. Given below are the details of the Indian government initiative, better known as AEP.
Adolescence Education Programme (AEP)
Adolescence Education (AE) has been conceptualised as an educational response to the need for support, encouragement, clarifications and information that adolescents often express in order to make sense of their rapidly changing world. In partnership with the Ministry of Human resource Development (MHRD), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has been supporting the AEP since 2005. With National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) as the coordinating agency; the AEP works through national agencies - Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) and National Institute of Open School (NIOS). The programme is also implemented through the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERTs) that cater to schools run by State Governments under the National Population Education Project (NPEP).
