RI 2006

The South and Southeast Asia Resource Centre on Sexuality conducted its third annual Regional Institute, titled, Sexuality, Society, and Culture, from April 29 - May 6, 2006 in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Institute hosted 17 participants from ten countries in South and Southeast Asia: Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, The Philippines and Vietnam.

Radhika Chandiramani is founded TARSHI. A clinical psychologist, she works and writes on issues of sexuality, focusing on young people, sexuality education, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. 

Anh Tu Hoang is a founding member and senior researcher at the Consultation of Investment in Health Promotion (CIHP), Hanoi, Vietnam. She is also founder of the first on-line counseling program for young people in sexuality, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS in Vietnam. She also works on research and programs to promote gender equity and sexual and reproductive rights of women and PLWHA.

Khuat Thu Hong is founder and Co-Director of the Institute for Social Development Studies (ISDS), based in Hanoi, Vietnam. With a background of psychology and sociology, she works as a researcher and trainer in the fields of family, gender, sexuality and HIV/AIDS. 

Geetanjali Misra is Executive Director, CREA, New Delhi. She has worked intensively at the activist, grant making and policy levels in the fields of sexuality, reproductive health and violence against women. She is also the co-founder of SAKHI for South Asian women in New York.

Dede Oetomo is a founding member and senior expert in the Research and Education Division of GAYa NUSANTARA Foundation, Surabaya, Indonesia, a community-based organization working on issues of diversity in sex, gender and sexuality.

Douglas Sanders is Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Law, University of British Columbia; LL.M. Professor, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. He has taught international human rights law, prepared expert background papers for UN human rights seminars, and written extensively on human rights issues relating to indigenous peoples and sexual and gender minorities.
